Stuart Price

Stuart David Price (born in Paris, 9 September 1977) is a British electronic musician, songwriter, and producer whose remixing and production skills are coveted by artists including Madonna, Missy Elliott, The Killers, Gwen Stefani, Seal and most recently Keane. His acts include British electronic pop/rock band Zoot Woman (with Adam and Jonny Blake), Les Rythmes Digitales, Paper Faces, Man With Guitar, Thin White Duke, and the parodic French moniker Jacques Lu Cont, though he actually grew up in Reading, England.
The use of the names Jacques Lu Cont and Les Rythmes Digitales was initially a reference to the then current vogue for French house in the United Kingdom; artists such as Daft Punk, Etienne de Crécy, Dimitri from Paris and Air were all experiencing popularity. Price even went as far as to conduct interviews with British journalists in French via an interpreter. In interviews from around this time, Price also claimed that he had grown up listening exclusively to classical music, until one day encountering the album Dare by the Human League. Certainly, Price was heavily influenced by music from the 1980s, and all his records and sideprojects bear a heavy debt to the 80s sounds of synthpop bands.
Price's remixes are characterised by club-lead beats with arpeggios, riffs, and vocal lines faded and filtered throughout the song for a climactic effect. He favors keeping the original vocal arrangement of songs and re-contextualizing the lyrical content in creating his new versions.
Price co-wrote and co-produced most of Madonna's tenth studio album Confessions on a Dance Floor after being the keyboardist on her Drowned World Tour in 2001 and the musical director for her 2004 Re-Invention World Tour, a role which he reprised for the 2006 Confessions Tour. He also co-wrote the song "X-Static Process" for her 2003 album American Life.
Price has also successfully released two albums with his rock band, Zoot Woman, 2001's Living in a Magazine, and 2003's Zoot Woman.
Keane have confirmed on their website that Price is working on their new album in Berlin currently.
The Killers' third studio album Day & Age will be produced by Price.

FRANKMUSIK

Frankmusik is a 21 year old producer, songwriter from Thornton Heath South East London. He has lived there all his life and one day decided that it was high time that he made some sexy synth pop music. With a combination of retro synths, commodore 64 samples, fast chunky drum riffs and tried and tested lyrics, Frankmusik has started to get the ball rolling in 2007. Earlier this year he released his first EP titled ‘Frankisum’.
London producer and vocalist frankmusik combines the best elements of eighties music with the commodore 64 sid sound chip and power pop arrangements to create body moving, heart throbbing pop songs. in short this is some of the freshest music i have heard in ages.
frankmusik: the ep is now finished, i am just finalizing all the details with the company that are pressing my cd's and vinyl and we should be ready to go in three weeks! you will be able to buy it direct from my myspace page or from ebay. there will also be a digital download from itunes and snocap!

Van She

VAN SHE are the freshest sounds from Sydney, Australia busting out of the gates with the release of their debut, self-titled EP in late 2005. VAN SHE are comprised from bits and bobs of 80's post punk, funk and synth pop plus the influence of latest new wave artists like Tom Vek & Bloc Party.

VAN SHE formed when Nick Routledge [vocals, guitar], Matt Van Schie [bass], Michael Di Francesco [synths] and Tomek Archer [drums] all responded to an ad in Sydney's Drum Media and arrived at an audition for a vocalist for a doom metal band with influences including Sepultura, Entombed, Black Skull and Phil Collins to find the whole thing was a sham. You could call it the result of Satan at work, or you could call it fate.

Bjork

Bjork released her brand new single "Náttúra" on October 20.

The single was composed specifically to encourage active support for the Nattura campaign, which aims at collating and providing sustainable and eco-friendly options suitable for Iceland, and generating alternative ways to utilize it’s natural resources. People will be able to submit their ideas on the website for sustainable green workplaces for Icelanders. According to Björk, “It is now more important than ever before to emphasize a respect for nature…I believe that profits, technological advances and working together with nature can all go hand in hand. None need to be sacrificed at the expense of the others.”

The new single is written and produced by Björk and features Radiohead’s Thom Yorke on backing vocals, Brian Chippendale (Lighting Bolt) on drums, Matthew Herbert on synth/bass, and Mark Bell on additional electronic beats.

The Antique Toys - Zombie

A Rag Doll, a Tin Soldier, a Marionette, and a Shadow Puppet make up this independent band, appropriately named The Antique Toys.

Armed with creative lyrics, a powerful vocalist, an electronic sound, live instruments, and a certain, anonymity, The Antique Toys is blending familiar sounds from bands of the late 80s and early 90s with a digital twist.

Drawing from a healthy mix of eclectic music, the Toys have been influenced by a long list of bands such as OMD, Depeche Mode, the Cure, David Bowie, Shiny Toy Guns, Postal Service and Radiohead.

From this collection to draw from, The Toys have developed a variety of sounds, but every one of their songs carry an emotion that is clear to many of their fans.

They tell real stories from their past, and from their hearts. Their music has been inspiring to many, which as Toys, should be the case. We all had favorite toys growing up, and still have some now. The feeling of joy and hope they bring to us is what The Antique Toys brings to people in their music...

Check them out on Myspace and make sure to visit theantiquetoys.com for FREE downloads of all of their songs. In the meantime, check out The Toys' wicked cover of The Cranberries' classic "Zombie" HERE.

LifO No 130

In the new issue of free press LifO, you can check out the EMERGENCY team naked.
We are a part of "Naked City" section.
This section is made for helping children with cancer by selling all these photos (after a big exhibition) and give the money to "Pisti" institution.

The concept was a new option of The Garden of Eden, where the couple is having fun in the woods, while drinking champaign.

We want to thank:
Photoharrie and Apostolis for being so helpful at the shooting.
LifO's team for the great collaboration

and

finally Lila (the dog) for being very kind with us.

Róisín Murphy

The Autumn shows will be a whole new set of different songs from what we saw over the summer.
