Almost There present: Xeno & Oaklander

Almost There go on with their interview assaults this season and this time their victims are Xeno &Oaklander.

Sotiris Ps met Liz Wendelbo and Sean McBride in Berlin, right before their live show in KingKong Klub, in terms of their european tour and their latest album "Sets & Lights" which was released on October 11 by Wierd Records.

New Yorkers Xeno & Oaklander, are on of the most popular groups of minimal wave, cold wave and synth pop and maybe the most important group of Wierd Records. They talked with Almost There about their influences, life in Brooklyn, critics, collaborations with other artists, their visits in Europe and their future plans.

They also revealed which greek groups they love as well as details of their everyday routine besides synths...

Χeno & Oaklander:

Xeno and Oaklander are based in Brooklyn, NY. They began writing music in 2004. Miss Liz Wendelbo is French / Norwegian and Sean McBride is from Maryland.

They record their songs live in their studio and play analogue synthesizers and instruments exclusively. They have toured Europe and the West Coast extensively, and they have played on the East Coast in music venues, lofts and festivals, and have also performed at SF Moma, PS1 Warm Up, Miami Art Basel,

the Zürich Kunsthalle and the New Museum in New York.

Οι Jessica 6 φτιάχτηκαν από πρώην μέλη των τρομερών Hercules & Love Affair - με τους οποίος είναι ακόμα φίλοι - τον κιμπορντίστα Morgan Wiley, τον μπασίστα Andrew Raposo και φυσικά την εκρηκτική Nomi Ruiz, το πιο σέξυ it-girl στην μουσική βιομηχανία (κι ας μην είναι καν κορίτσι). Τα πάντα βλέπεις στο συγκρότημα γυρίζουν γύρω από την χορεύτρια, σελέμπριτυ, μοντέλο, τραγουδίστριά τους, η οποία μάλιστα είναι τρανσέξουαλ - κάτι που δεν εμποδίζει τα αγόρια να μαζεύονται γύρω της σαν μέλισσες (σχεδόν ακούς το βζζζζ τους...).
Η τύχη τους χαμογέλασε αμέσως κάνοντας το πρώτο τους single 'White Horse' ένα από τα πιο αγαπημένα εναλλακτικά, χορευτικά hits του φετινού καλοκαιριού, σε πολλές ευρωπαϊκές χώρες, μεταξύ των οποίων και η Ελλάδα. Αμέσως μετά κυκλοφόρησαν το ντεμπούτο album τους 'See The Light' που περιείχε και την συνεργασία τους με τον Antony Hegarty (των διαβόητων Antony & The Johnsons) στο τραγούδι 'Prisoner Of Love', επιβάλοντάς τους σαν ένα από τα καλύτερα νέα συγκροτήματα της dance νεοϋορκέζικης σκηνής.
Με κριτικούς και κοινό στο πλευρό τους και μετά από ένα καυτό συναυλιακά καλοκαίρι που συμπεριλάμβανε εμφανίσεις στα μεγαλύτερα φεστιβάλ του πλανήτη, το συγκρότημα επισκέπτεται την χώρα μας στην πιο hot φάση της καριέρας του για 3 live shows σε Θεσσαλονίκη, Αθήνα και Ρόδο.
